Trimline undertook a comprehensive refurbishment of the previously 'Lebanese Restaurant' aboard the Aroya cruise ship, under contract to MJM Marine, transforming it into 'Layalina'. Focusing on various aspects including demolition, furniture, flooring, and specialized lighting. The project started with the removal of outdated elements, such as ceilings, bulkheads, and flooring. This included the removal of existing carpet, wall finishes, and artwork, as well as ceiling sections to allow for new cable and lighting installations. Trimline also managed the removal and disposal of column casings and prepared the space for new installations.
The renovation included the installation of new column casings and wall finishes, with a particular focus on the replacement of bulkheads and the addition of Arte Indigo Motion finishes to the columns. New tiling was added to key areas, including the feature bar front, and Muraspec vinyl was applied to the corridor bulkheads. The ceilings were restored with GRG boards and freshly painted to match the restaurant's updated aesthetic. The final touch to the space was the installation of artwork frames and a repaint of frames in the corridor.
In addition to the structural and decorative work, Trimline focused on upgrading the flooring. A new floor screed was applied in areas where the old carpet was removed, and high-quality carpet tiles were installed according to the designer's specifications. This ensured that the restaurant met both functional and aesthetic standards. Trimline also oversaw the re-upholstering of eight banquette seating areas, restoring them to like-new condition.
The electrical and lighting systems were a significant part of the project, with the installation of various new lighting fixtures including downlights, spotlights, and LED tape. Trimline ensured the integration of these new systems into the restaurant's design, with careful attention paid to wiring, dimming systems, and final connections. This renovation not only transformed the space visually but also enhanced its functionality and ambiance, creating a modern and welcoming environment for guests.
