The Desserts Bar refurbishment involved a comprehensive overhaul aimed at enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal, under contract to MJM Marine. The project began with the removal of existing fixtures and fittings, including the dropped ceiling pelmet above the bar, complete with timber detailing and lighting. This allowed for the installation of new structural elements, including the reconfiguration of the ceiling, which was upgraded with angular details, replacing outdated lighting coves. The existing flooring, including ceramic tiles, was removed to make way for new materials, ensuring a fresh and modern look to the space.
The installation of new flooring was a key part of the transformation, with screed applied to the entire area, followed by ceramic tiles to the back-of-house (BOH) area. New skirting tiles were also added, ensuring that the new flooring was both aesthetically pleasing and durable. Along with these updates, new bulkhead finishes were applied to the bar, including wall coverings and the installation of Omexco PD-02 vinyl, enhancing the overall design and creating a seamless look throughout the space.
New fixed furniture was introduced, with a particular focus on the back bar display shelving and the main counter. The back bar unit was installed with a metal frame and shelving, providing a modern and functional space for the bar's operation. The counter was upgraded with a sophisticated white marble effect quartz surface, complemented by a custom-made sneeze screen for added safety and hygiene. The installation of new ceramic tiles on the counter facia completed the refreshed look, adding to the sleek and modern design of the space.
In addition to these improvements, the lighting system was overhauled to align with the new design. A range of LED fixtures, including pendant lights, spotlights, and LED tape, was installed to illuminate the bar area effectively while creating a stylish ambiance.
