The conversion of the former karaoke suites into a new karaoke room, a Baloot card room, and two state-of-the-art sports simulator rooms involved a significant amount of renovation work, including structural changes, electrical upgrades, and the installation of specialized equipment. All work carried out under contract to MJM Marine.
The process began with extensive demolition, including the removal of ceilings, flooring, wall panels, and old furniture from the existing rooms. In the karaoke room, the space was restructured to accommodate new finishes and fixed furniture. Soundproofing panels and lighting systems were integrated into the design to optimise acoustics and visual appeal. The flooring was updated with luxurious vinyl tiles (LVT) for the karaoke room, while the sports simulator rooms received artificial turf to enhance the immersive experience. In addition, the existing banquette seating and beverage counters were removed to make room for new fixed furniture designed for the new room layouts.
The electrical and lighting systems were completely overhauled to meet the needs of the new functions. LED lighting strips, DMX control systems, and track-mounted lights were installed to provide dynamic lighting for the karaoke and sports rooms. For the sports simulator rooms, power supplies were configured for advanced equipment like projectors, cameras, and infrared systems that support the simulation experience. The lighting system was carefully designed to complement the digital setups in the simulator rooms.
The sports simulator rooms also required specialised bulkhead linings and ceilings to accommodate the technological elements. Upholstered panels and custom-designed bulkheads were installed, and the ceiling was equipped with custom-designed panels to house lighting and screens. For the Baloot room, the design focused on creating a comfortable and inviting space for card games, with bespoke furniture and subtle lighting.
Overall, the conversion involved careful planning to ensure each space was equipped with the right features for its specific purpose while maintaining a cohesive and high-quality design across all rooms.
